Crowning Glory

This is my second painting done with acrylic then covered with ground media, charcoal, eraser, pastel.
I took the inspiration for this painting from a photo I took at Magnetic Hill Zoo this past summer. I loved the regal attitude of this beautiful bird.

Family

This 12 x 16  painting started off being watercolor on watercolor canvas but I find it very difficult to paint watercolor on canvas. I then switched and painted with acrylic. I went over that with pumice ground and then pastel  My inspiration was baby conures that belonged to the lady I bought my cocktails from.I took this photo many years ago. I just loved their different expressions and could see their personalities shining through. I left the back ground very plan so that the birds would stand out.
It is a very vibrant painting which unfortunately the photo and computer do not allow you to appreciate to its fullest.

The Trio

This is a mixed media painting of various color sunflowers. I used acrylic, media ground with glass in it for the centers and pastel. The Gold is acrylic.

Nicks Father's Day Gift

Sorry, It has been so long since I have posted any Art work, but I have been having problems getting my camera to download to an area where I could upload photos.
As you can see by the title,I did this painting of my two Quaker Parrots on the shoes my husband wore on our wedding day in 1977.
I wanted to capture the shoes and his youngest children.

John & Keri's Wedding

This is a painting I finally got around to do for John & Keri Anderson. for a wedding gift. It is a painting of their wedding ceremony which took place in Spain where John is from..Kerri is my stepdaughter,Sharon's younger sister and though I have not met her yet we have talked often thanks to the internet,I feel like I know her.Keri had e-mailed me this photo quite awhile ago so I hope she will be pleased.
It is a very busy scene with not only the wedding but the beautiful beach background as well. I did not put a lot of detail into the audience as I did not want them to distract from the bride and groom who are just slightly off center to the left.I am hoping the curve in the staircase draws the viewers eye to that center of interest. In the background the curve of the wall barricade repeats the other curves.I also took liberty with the palm trees as in the original photo it appeared to be so windy the fronds were blowing straight up.
This painting is also on its way to South Wales.

Lauren & Ralph

This is a painting of my step granddaughter ,Lauren and her puppy Ralph. She lives in Cardiff in South Wales, G.B. and I mailed her this painting as a present for her birthday that was on Mon.March 3rd.She came over to Canada to visit this past summer with her mom & younger sister. Lauren is beautiful inside and out!
The painting was eleven and a half inches square and I matted it with a three inch mat.
Colors used were combinations of Cad.Red,Lemon Yellow,Yellow ochre,Cad.Orange,Burnt seinna,,cobolt, alizarin crimson, and rose madder.I also used Schmincke rich gold dry gouche for her earring.

Sammy

This is my latest little quick painting of a dog I love. Sammy is not mine but belongs to a friend and Patient of mine. White is not easy so I have used several light colored swirls for his beautiful curly coat. He also has some light brown in his coat. Hope you like him!
