Beauty in my World

Name:
Location: Quispamsis, Canada

I am mainly a watercolor and Pastel artist but I am open to various mediums. I have been painting since 1992. I have travelled alot and have sold works and prints internationally. My works have also won awards. I used to be a member and for a short time president of a local art club however I found the Politics and Personalities interfered too much with my time that could be put into my work. I live on the east coast of Canada and I paint our local beauty as well as the Carribean and the Mediterranean.

Fall Biirch Grove Step 1

Step one shows that I have sketched in the larger birch trees and then added masking to retain the white paper of the trees while I put on a thin wash of cobalt blue with a little ultramarine blue mixed in for the back ground sky.
I gently blotted the top third of the painting to keep the sky light.

I have started this 8x10 Iris painting with watercolor washes of lemon yellow, permanent rose , alizarin and cobalt blue.
I am still undecided if I will do this all in watercolor or use it as an under painting for pastel.

Bloomin Lady

This is the beginning of my Bloomin Lady. I am painting her on watercolor paper that I plan to apply to the wood and then apply fixative.
She presently is just in the initial stage.
As you can see from my previous posts it is always interesting to see what other artists come up with.

Happy Valentines Day!!!!

This is a collage I did a few years ago. It is called The Three Hearts.
It tells the story of a heart broken by jealousy, which is represented by the spider craweling away from the new mended heart.
The yellow heart which has flowers and dragonflies represents new love.
Sending love and warm wishes to all my friends and followers on my blog!!!!!

Finished Winter Wonderland 3

Due to its length I could not fit the whole painting in the photo.
Th majority of the painting is watercolor but I used some whit arcylic and burnt umber and white soft pastel as well. Fixative and a matte acrylic covering was sprayed over the whole painting and allowed to dry between layers.

Painting in a day. Working on Winterwonderland 3

I spent Sunday Dec 13 working on this painting as I cleaned my house. I created this 16x30 painting to put on the front of my filing cabinet over my desk at my office. The dietition who sits next to me decorated hers with wrapping paper and christmas bells. I had a lone ponisetta so I said I would do a painting for mine if I got a chance on the weekend.
I managed to get it completed by suppertime.
I would paint some and while it was drying do some housework.
I had a refrence photo from Kingston Pennisulia which is my Nursing territory. I masked then did an underpainting of Aureolin yellow. I then used Perylene green, indigo and burnt umber.

55 Mercury Step 5

Only another evening to go!!! I've deepened the background, added some shadows and removed the masking from the highlights. I have to put the shadow under the car to bring it forward and add the details. Perhaps pump up that front tire and truely give it its markings.

Waiting for a fare

When most people have seen this painting they think I have done a portrait of my husband Nicholas however as Nick points out this Gondolier has grey hair. His facial features are very similar though or I have been asked so much that I now see the resemblance.

Kozy Korner 2 (almost finished)

This is a 8x10 painting of a resturant in Hampton,N.B. A popular spot for Sunday Brunch!!!It is almost finished except for straightening the letters on the awning. I preferred my first composition which I did at Bloomin Artist the best but the owner wanted more of the front of the building in his painting. Georgie Day from Hampton bought my 1st one.
