Beauty in my World

Name:
Location: Quispamsis, Canada

I am mainly a watercolor and Pastel artist but I am open to various mediums. I have been painting since 1992. I have travelled alot and have sold works and prints internationally. My works have also won awards. I used to be a member and for a short time president of a local art club however I found the Politics and Personalities interfered too much with my time that could be put into my work. I live on the east coast of Canada and I paint our local beauty as well as the Carribean and the Mediterranean.

Gold Mask WIP

This week I have worked mainly on the flowers. The roses in the forground were white in my original photograph but I felt that the red would suit the mood I wish to convey better.
The Lilies are slowly starting to take some depth as well.
I have been looking for a canidian distrubitor of Ampersand board with a 2-2 1/2 inch depth so I can mount this painting and not have to put it under glass when it is finished.
I plan to add real feathers to the mask and rhinestones as well so if anyone can suggest where I can obtain a way of mounting this please contact me.
Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Syds Amaryllis WIP

I often work on a few things at a time so you will see various posts on my site.
I have been working on my mediterranean inspiration but daily see beauty in my local world as well that inspires me.
Last year I purchased some amaryllis that were supposed to be this color but after several months and no progress I took mine back to Halifax Seed and got some white ones that were futher along so they would bloom for Christmas.
One of my patients Syd had this beautiful Amaryllis that I had tried to grow so I asked him if I could photograph his and now I am painting it.

Male Mask WIP step 2

This painting will probably take me a while as I do not seem to find the time I need.
My heart and head are ready but working full time and late some days cuts into my painting time.
I need to express to the universe my true desire to paint and the time will appear.
I have to admit that helping people in need also fulfills me so we need to find a balance.
I had my Tarot cards read this past week and was told that she could see me putting words with my art.
I have had three childrens books in mind for awhile so I guess I should persue those.
Life is so interesting and holds so many stories just waiting to be told.Maybe I started with painting and should have persued my story telling first.
I love the beautyinmyworld and want to share it!!!

Venitian Mask in progress

This is one of my more serious paintings I am working on for my Medditterean Moments series.
I was at a lull after my show at Klaussen's Gallery last June but I would like to do some works to replace those I have sold and prepare a portfolio for a new show in 2010!!!

Lily after the bath

I have been working on this for quite awhile or putting it on hold whitcher you call it .I have worked on alot of other things in the meantime.
Lily has on her Shark hooded towel and this pose reminded me of Vemeer's lady with the pearl earring.
She is such great inspiration to me.
I started with a yellow toned underpainting and am building up my watercolor with glazes.

Syd Finished

Finished my painting of Syd tonight.
He is 94 years old and will be 95 in Jan.
He is blind in his left eye so it does not appear as clear as his right but I wanted it not to be quite as obvious as it is in person.
He is a wonderful person and I hope he will be happy with this gift(Tribute )I have done for him for Christmas.
He let me take the photo I painted this from as a gift for the Mail Ladies who are also care givers to him. I plan to give each of them a printed copy for Christmas.

The Best Choice

This is one of my favorite poitraits I did in the past. It is 16x20 in size. The little gril was the daughter of a waitress we met in Castera in Tobaggowhen we visited the West Indies several years ago.
We have many friends there and I have had my art work sold in several shops and their Gallery there.
I also painted commissioned poitraits while there.
The profit from the sale of this painting will go to to "The Piggs Peak Project" .Piggs Peak is a place in Swaziland ,Africa.that the small community of Hampton, here in N.B. Canada are trying to help by supporting education and health care there.

55 Mercury Step 5

Only another evening to go!!! I've deepened the background, added some shadows and removed the masking from the highlights. I have to put the shadow under the car to bring it forward and add the details. Perhaps pump up that front tire and truely give it its markings.

Commissioned House finished

Finished my house commission by putting in the details and the large tree on the left.
Unfortunately I find some paintings look better than they photograph.
I do not find this photo really does this painting justice.
I am especially pleased with the sky which does not show up well.
Hopefully the owner will like it when she sees it!!!
