Beauty in my World

Name:
Location: Quispamsis, Canada

I am mainly a watercolor and Pastel artist but I am open to various mediums. I have been painting since 1992. I have travelled alot and have sold works and prints internationally. My works have also won awards. I used to be a member and for a short time president of a local art club however I found the Politics and Personalities interfered too much with my time that could be put into my work. I live on the east coast of Canada and I paint our local beauty as well as the Carribean and the Mediterranean.

Cindy's House Finished

I completed Cindy's house yesterday and took it to work for her today before I posted the finished product.
I double matted it with black then white matboard and she plans on getting a black frame for it.
She likes it very much and is excited to give it to her husband for his birthday next week.
Paintings make a great gift that you can actually share if you give it to family.
I do commissions on just about anything so let me know.

Cindy's House Step 4 WIP

Here I have started filling in some of the colored siding as well as the shutters and the grass and hedges.
It looks a little rough and shakey at this point but another couple of steps and it should really start to come together.

Betty's Dog Commission

Just did this small 5x7 painting for one of the nurses I work with. She wishes to give it to a friend whom used to own this dog before it died.
It is the third commission I have done for Betty.
I tried a new method with this painting by painting the background first and rubbing out the light areas while it was still wet.
I quite enjoyed this and like the effect it gave to the dogs fur.

55 Mercury Finished

Well it is finally finished and I am ready to move on. I was working on several things at once so it took me quite awhile. Tonight I worked on the highlights and the fine details.
My favorite part is the side mirror.

Down to the final steps (55 Mercury)

One more sitting and it should be finished. I have to now work on the details(Number plates and car window drivers side and I am declaring it done.
As you can see I worked on the shadows and highlights on Sunday evening.
I am ready to get into some winter scenes but winter itself can stay away until Christmas!!!

55 Mercury Step 5

Only another evening to go!!! I've deepened the background, added some shadows and removed the masking from the highlights. I have to put the shadow under the car to bring it forward and add the details. Perhaps pump up that front tire and truely give it its markings.

Commissioned House finished

Finished my house commission by putting in the details and the large tree on the left.
Unfortunately I find some paintings look better than they photograph.
I do not find this photo really does this painting justice.
I am especially pleased with the sky which does not show up well.
Hopefully the owner will like it when she sees it!!!

Commisioned house (step2)

After the initial (step1) I felt the house was not sitting properly in the composition it was determined the lens distortion in my photograph must have been throwing it off so an adjustment was made to the horizon line. Step two included adding more color to all elements and using a ground sea salt technique to give some texture to the gravel driveway.
Not much leftto do but the details and the large tree that stands on the left side of the house.
I presently have to finish paintings for Saint Davids Art Show on Oct.23&24 then I can finish this house
